Emohua/Kalabari Road: Commercial driver killed by kidnappers buried amid tears

Brave Dickson

It was a burial of tears and laying of curses as Salvation Taylor-Harry was laid to rest on Saturday aged 45.

Taylor-Harry, a commercial driver plying the insecure Emohua/Kalabari Road was shot dead by kidnappers on September 3 after successfully whisked away some of his passengers.

The killing of Taylor-Harry sparked wide spread condemnation as many blamed the security agents of not doing enough to protect lives and property on the road.

Following the lack of confidence in security agents to secure the road, the local authorities of the four LGAs that are using the road came together to accept the manning of community based security combatants on the road.

During Taylor-Harry’s interment at his Buguma hometown in Asari-Toru LGA of Rivers State, some friends and well-wishers of the deceased who attended the funeral told our correspondent how they are pained because of his demise.

“We are deeply grief over the sudden death of Taylor-Harry. God will never forgive his killers. The family members of his killers will also mourn all the days of their lives.

“We don’t know what security agents are doing that they can not secure that road.

“A big shame on our politicians whose under their leadership, insecurity has over ran every part of the country.

“God will judge and punish all those who have direct and indirect hand in the killing of Taylor-Harry, “they said.

One of the mourners of the bereaved family, Chief A Nath-Tariah described the slain commercial driver as a good man who did not deserve to be killed in such manner.

“We will forever miss him,” he said.
