Ogoni group welcomes Maeba’s declaration

A forum of leaders of thought in Ogoni, The Concerned Ogoni Elders Forum has welcomed the declaration by Sen. Lee Maeba to Contest the 2023 Rivers State Governorship Election.

The group at the sideline of Sen. Maeba’s public declaration in Port Harcourt on Saturday commended Sen Maeba for taking the bold step and promised to offer their support for the actualization of what they described as an Ogoni project for the good of the entire Rivers State.

Speaking on behave of the Ogoni Elders, Chief. Mike Baah, disclosed the group’s resolve to galvanise support from and outside the Ogoni area, adding that Sen. Maeba’s aspiration is well thought out and is for the development and prosperity of the People of Rivers State.

Chief Baah said that Senator Lee Maeba, over time has demonstrated capacity, courage and political will to lead the people of Rivers State to their preferred future and to consolidate on the gains and achievements of Governor Nyesom Wike.

He also commended Ogonis who are members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for being United for the singular cause of producing the next Governor of Rivers State come 2023.

He also urged the good people of Rivers State, especially other ethnic nationalities to rally round Senator Lee Maeba and give him the required support to continue with the good works Governor Wike has done in the State.

The highly respected Ogoni Elder said Senator Lee Maeba deserves to be elected as governor of the State because of his track record.

According to him, Sen. Maeba is a man of integrity, honesty, incorruptibility and fear of God. He said Maeba is a Statesman that has built a network of national integration and cohesion, which truly exemplified him as a unifying factor in Rivers State and Nigeria politics.

“The track records of Maeba while in the Senate and as Senatorial Vice-chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State are enough testimonies to mobilise maximum support for him come 2023 because the facts speak for themselves.

“The candidature of Senator Lee Maeba remains the most credible and dependable to consolidate governor Nyesom Wike’s developmental agenda of Rivers State,” he said.
