Herder allegedly stabs landlord in Rivers community

A cattle herder suspected to be Fulani has allegedly stabbed a landlord multiple times in Bonny Island, Rivers State.

It was gathered that the man, identified as Donald Pepple, was attacked and stabbed multiple times by the herder following his complaint that cows were messing up his compound.

It was learnt that the suspect always passed through the victim’s compound with his cattle, leaving the animals to eat crops and defecate all over the place, prompting the victim to warn the herder not to bring his cattle into the place anymore.

In protest, the suspect had angrily hit the victim on the head with a stick, before stabbing him multiple times in his head and other parts of his body.

It was further learnt that the herder had fled the scene, leaving behind 20 cows, which have since been seized by members of the community.

An eyewitness report said the victim was currently receiving treatment at a hospital in the community, while the matter was promptly reported at the Bonny Divisional Police Headquarters.
