Opunabo Inko-Tariah, a former Special Adviser to the Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said that the next governor of the state should come from the riverine area or the Ogoni ethnic nationality.
He said that since 1999 no riverine person has emerged governor of the state, adding that the time is right for a riverine governor.
Inko-Tariah, who appeared as a guest on NigInfo’s Morning Crossfire on Friday, called on other ethnic groups in the state to support the riverine to produce a successor in 2023.
According to him, the Riverine and the Ogoni ethnic nationalities are two groups that should lay claim to the seat.
However, he maintained that the riverine should go first because Ogoni is part of the upland that has produced the governors of the state since the birth of democracy.
The former adviser who also reacted to Governor Wike’s proposed Stomach Infrastructure programme said the governor has been busy building flyovers, and he has failed in the area of Human Capital Development.
According to him, the governor has failed to build industries that will create jobs as well as create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Inko-Tariah maintained that although the proposed Stomach Infrastructure programme has a political undertone, it is not going to affect the 2023 elections, as Rivers people cannot be easily deceived.
He noted that the money belonged to the state, which justifies the people to being beneficiaries.
Continuing, he stated that the governor, has being sharing Rivers’ money to other states, while pension and gratuities were yet to be paid.
