Two underage girls aged twelve (12) and (13) years old have been rescued from alleged sex slavery by the Chief Security Officer of Nkpolu, Oroworukwo, Mile 3 Diobu, PortHarcourt, Godstime Ihunwo.

The duo was rescued on Thursday at about 10 pm.

In an interview with our correspondent, Godstime Ihunwo, narrated that while on patrol with his men, he saw three children with their luggage and upon interrogating them, they revealed they were running away from their home due to alleged ill-treatment and ‘sex’ abuse on them.

The Chief Security Officer disclosed that he took them to his office that night and informed a Human Rights Advocacy Group of the children plight.

According to him, the female children between 12 and 13 years old informed him that their former Guardian, Blessing Ibilaba who is late, had told them that they were taken from an orphanage home and their present Guardian who is the late woman’s brother took custody of them after her death.

Meanwhile, a member of the Centre For Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, Gladys Onyenmwen, speaking to Journalist said on getting the information, the organization took the children to Rumulomeni Police Division at Iwofe, in Obio/Akpor local government area, where the guardian resides, noting that they have also informed the ministry of social Welfare Rivers State.

“Our major concern is the shocking revelation made by the underage girls that the son to their present Guardian, who is a Youth Corper allegedly defiled them and have constantly sexually abused them”.

She, however, demanded that a thorough investigation be carried out with a view to serve justice to all involved.

As at press time, the children have been handed over to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Rivers State by the Centre for Basic Rights while the alleged suspect is said to be serving his Youth Services outside Rivers State.
