Rivers United beat Enyimba in Aba

Ishaq Kayode Rafiu scored the only goal of the match as Rivers United recorded a 1-0 win over Enyimba International FC in Wednesday evening’s Nigeria Professional Football League clash in Aba.

Ekene Awazie missed a big chance for Enyimba FC in the 19th minute of the contest as he fired into the side net after breaking into a shooting area.

Chiamaka Madu came close to getting United ahead when his shot from an intelligent Ebube Duru cut back flew over the bar. Uche Onwuansanya almost capped an excellent first half with a goal when he went past three opponents but had his shot saved by Enyimba’s goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke.

Rivers United FC scored the match winner less than seven minutes after resumption of the second half courtesy of a wonderful strike by Ishaq Rafiu. The in-form winger hammered into the roof of the net from 25 metres. His fourth goal of the ongoing season.

The Stanley Eguma tutored side were rewarded for an excellent defensive effort towards the end with a 1-0 win, securing her first away win of the ongoing 2021/2022 NPFL season.
