PANDEF urges N’Delta Avengers to shelve resumption of oil hostilities

Brave Dickson

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has urged the Niger Delta Avengers to shelve its plan to resume oil hostilities in the region.

The ex militant group had threatened the federal government that it would start blowing up oil installations in the region again, following the failure of government to develop the region.

In an interview with our correspondent, the National Publicity Secretary of PANDEF, Ken Robinson gave reasons why the ex militant group shouldn’t resume oil hostilities.

He said, “in as much as the FG has been insensitive to the plight of the region, we do not think the deployment of violence will solve the problem.

“We have lost so many sons and daughters from the Niger Delta region through hostile engagement with the military in the course of fighting for their environmental rights and we don’t want to lose any Niger Deltan again.

“The youths are our future leaders and we do not want them to be using violent approach in demanding for their rights.

“Let’s continue to use legitimate and legal means in demanding for our rights and of course we are fully aware that the federal government does not want to develop the Niger Delta region.”

Shortly after the Niger Delta Avengers issued the threat, the response of the federal government has been viewed by some Nigerians as jittery on the part of government.
