Breaking: Chief of Army Staff reportedly dies in military plane crash

Nigerian Military plane carrying the Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, and other top military personnel has reportedly crashed.

Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, his wife and six others died in the plane crash on Friday evening.

The military Beachcraft 350 aircraft flying the officers had crashed landed at the Kaduna International Airport amid a downpour, killing all those on board.

The ill-fated aircraft crashed at the airport’s runway at 6.00 p.m.

Confirming the incident, the CEO of the Accident and Investigation Bureau (AIB), Akin Olateru, said all the eight people on board died.

“Beechcraft 350. 8 souls on board. Unfortunately all dead.”

The Nigerian Air Force also confirmed an accident involving one of its aircraft in Kaduna.

“An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained.

“More details to follow soon,” the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said in a terse statement.
