A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Rivers Tonye Princewill has said the low level of citizens participation in the affairs of governance in Nigeria is largely responsible for the seeming woes in the nation’s polity.
Prince Tonye Princewill who stated this while speaking on happenings around the nation’s politics noted that complaining and keeping a distance from the issues of governance will not bring about the desired change the country earnestly yearns for.
He noted that citizens’ active participation and contributing in any capacity will help the country surmount all of its present economic and security predicaments.
“If you have a responsibility to your children, to your community, to your family, then you have a responsibility to affect the politics, you have a certain background and it’s not you saying that it is a dirty game. You cannot improve politics by standing at a distance and watching.
“For those of us that are complaining, I want you to ask yourself what are you doing about politics, whether it is from the media or supporting a candidate or you being a candidate yourself rather than blames. I like people to be proffering alternatives. Participate even if your participation is constructive, it is still participation”
