The Rivers State Council for Islamic Affairs (RSCIA) has urged Muslims who are security personnel to desist from money extortion and other acts capable of denting their image.
The state Islamic Leader and Vice President-General of RSCIA, Alhaji Nasir Uhor stated this on Thursday in his Salah message to Muslim security personnel across the country.
Eid-El-Fitr is a global celebration by Muslims to mark the end of their annual Ramadan fast.
Uhor who defined the Ramadan period as a holy month for purification, advised Muslim security agents to be professional in their duties and shun things that will find them wanting.
According to him, “security personnel who are Muslims ought to show moral examples while performing their duties.
“I urge Muslim security agents to allow the lessons of Ramadan to guide their lives in a manner that they will not be found wanting in their day to day activities.
“Ramadan was instituted by God in the holy Quran for Muslims to purify themselves both physically and spiritually.
“It is not expected of Muslim security agents to resume those vices they abandoned during the period of the Ramadan.
“Since Muslim security agents have pledged their allegiance to the laws and policies of their profession, they should endeavour to be good Muslims at all cost.
If they (the security agents) will also abide by the rules of engagement as set out by the Quran, I can assure you that they will not have any difficulties in their profession.”
