Police nab six suspected cultists in Anambra

The Anti-Cultism unit of Anambra state police command has arrested six suspected cultists in Amikwo village, Awka, Anambra state.

The arrest was made yesterday, April 13, following credible information of the location the suspects.

The state’s police spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were actively involved in a recent shooting incident that claimed the life of an unidentified young man along Ukwuoji, Awka.

The suspects, who confessed to being members of Black Axe Confratanity were in possession of two locally made guns and eight live cartridges.

DSP Ikenga further revealed that the suspects will be charged to court at the end of the investigations.

Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Kuryas, thanked the citizens for their cooperation and urged them to keep assisting the force with adequate intelligence that will help them curb crime.

He also enjoined stakeholders to partner with the Police to address the security issues associated with cultism among the youths.
