Business mogul, high chief O.B Lulu-Briggs goes home in grand style

Late business mogul, industrialist and philanthropist, High chief Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs has finally been laid to rest. The late Industrialist passed on in Accra, Ghana on the 27th of December, 2018.

His funeral ceremony which took place on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at his home town, Abonema in Akuku Toru L.G.A in Rivers state had an assemblage of dignitaries in attendance.

The town of Abonema was swarmed with guests from across the country and residents, who arrived to bid their final respect to an illustrious son.

The funeral ceremony was conducted by great men of God who had kind words to say about the late business mogul and how he enjoyed God’s favour and blessings.

In a sermon delivered by the Senior Special Assistant to the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Belemina Obunge implored everyone on the need to live a life of value. He stressed further the importance of living a life of positive impact like the legacies left behind by the late O.B Lulu-Briggs.

In a tribute to the deceased, Former president of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan reminisced how he met the deceased. He prayed that God will help the children of the deceased to fit into the legacies of their father.

Chief mourner, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs in a speech, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who were in attendance and promised to maintain the legacies of his father.

He added saying:

And he will always say to you, that to thyself you must always be true and as day follows night, that which will be will be. He taught me that love is not an exchange. So you don’t love because you expect to be loved in return; that love was an act of faith, that you just do it because you have to do it expecting nothing in return and you’re doing it because you believe in God.

 

He further thanked former President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Nyesom Wike, Mrs Aisha Buhari, and other dignitaries in attendance on behalf of the Lulu-Briggs family.

Dignitaries in attendance were the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and his Deputy, Dr Ipalibo Banigo; former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke; Sir Celestine Omehia, the former Governor of Rivers state;

The minister of Transport, Hon. Chibuike Amaechi (represented by Dr Dawari George), Ministers of State (Petroleum), Timipre Sylva and his Mines and Steel counterpart, Dr Uche Ogah; Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Amayanabo of Opobo, HRM, King Dandeson Jaja;

Also in attendance was the Secretary to Rivers State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo and former Managing Directors of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaible, Joi Nunieh, Bassey Henshaw and a host of others.

The funeral came to a climax when the mortal remains of Late Chief Olu Benson Lulu-Briggs were conveyed to Abonema after a brief stop at Buguma for internment.

He was sent home amidst booming cannon shots.
