MOSOP alleges plot to attack its secretariat

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) says it is worried over fresh plots by hoodlums to attack its secretariat in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Alex Akori, the secretary-general of MOSOP in a statement on Thursday said the Apex Socio-political group of the Ogoni people uncovered the plot following credible intelligence and factual evidence to the plot to attack its secretariat with hoodlums.

MOSOP has been mired in a leadership crisis since for over two years.

Akori said it raised the alarm to allert the necessary security agencies and the general public of the plot by some persons to attack the MOSOP Secretariat in Bori.

He said a similar attack on its secretariat took place on October 17, 2020 during which people were wounded, office equipment and assets destroyed.

“A formal report was made to the Police though no one has been charged for the crime.

“Information available to us indicates that the plot had been hatched in connivance with hoodlums drawn from different places and targeted at destabilizing the moves by the current leadership of MOSOP under Prince Fegalo Nsuke to drive a development programme that can peacefully address the Ogoni problem through the operations of the Ogoni Development Authority.

“We further gathered that the plot to attack the secretariat in Bori is being masterminded by one Lazarus Tamana, a frustrated Londoneer who lost the MOSOP presidency election to Prince Fegalo Nsuke in December 2018.

Akori urged the general public to Mr Lazarus Tamana responsible should in case of any attack on its secretariat.
