The youths of Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State have accused their neighbouring Ahoada West LGA of killing their son, Siyamikepe Levi Ukiti.

The youths who described the killing as a reprisal attack said the killer-gang was led by one Kapon from neighbouring Ogbogolo community in Ahoada West.

Narrating the incident to our correspondent, the Youth Leader of Egunughan community in Abua/Odua, Comrade Binoye George wondered why the police were yet to conclude investigation on the killing, adding that the corpse had since been deposited in the mortuary.

He said, “during the COVID-19 lockdown, some youths from neighbouring Ogbogolo community in Ahoada West deposited poisonous chemical on our river that killed our fishes.

“We traced them with the police and arrested some of the perpetrators and since then, they have been planning to attack us.

“Recently, two boys from my community, kikpoye Ikodi, and Siyamikepe Levi Ukiti went for fishing, unknown to them that some assailants were laying ambush to attack them.

“Suddenly, this killer-gang led by one Kapon by nickname appeared from nowhere with machetes and other deadly weapons.

“They hacked my community boy, Siyamikepe Levi Ukiti to death with machetes while kikpoye Iseghe Ikodi narrowly escaped being killed.

“We have reported the killing to the state commissioner of police through a petition for investigation.

“Up till now, the police have not concluded investigation on the matter but the corpse had been deposited in the mortuary as I speak to you.”
