A State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt will today commence hearing into the case filed by the former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Joi Nunieh against the Inspector-General of Police, the Nigeria Police, and the State Security Service SSS.

Joi Nunieh had approached the court to enforce her fundamental human right following the failed plot by the Police to arrest her.

The Police had on Thursday, July 16th, 2020, attempted to arrest Joi Nunieh at her residence in Port Harcourt following the corruption probe instituted by the House of Representatives.

The former Acting MD of NDDC was, however, rescued by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike who offered Joi Nunieh a shelter at the Government House Port Harcourt.

Following the failed arrest plot by the Police, Joi Nunieh had secured an injunction from a State High Court in Port Harcourt barring the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector General of Police and the DSS from arresting her pending the determination of the suit.
