75 undergraduate and masters students are now beneficiaries of the second batch of OPM International Scholarship scheme.
The General Overseer of OPM Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere while handing over the admission letters to the beneficiaries’ of the second batch of the OPM International Scholarships said the gesture was geared towards ending poverty and boosting human capital development among youths in Nigeria.
Chibuzor Chinyere during the event said the beneficiaries will study courses in the field of engineering, medicine and other arts-related courses.
He said the students will study in foreign universities in the United Kingdom, Poland, and Turkey.
While presenting the admission letters to the beneficiaries, the Clergyman asked the students to study hard in a bid to become solution providers to society.
According to him, he said the students were all from less privilege parents who could not afford to send their children to school.
He revealed that the international scholarship was also offered to the son of Ifeanyi Onyekwere( one of the victims of Ikoku four).
The General Overseer of OPM Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere also said the church will open a Special School for children with Autism and Down syndrome in September.
He said children with special needs require quality education to excel in life.
“There is a particular illness that has been dealing with children, this down syndrome and autism. But you found out that, down syndrome and autism, they have special schools they go and the schools are very expensive because the teachers are professionals.
“But you see that the rich will take their children to those special schools while the poor will abandoned the children who will be languishing in the streets. But by the Grace of God, we have started the recruitment of teachers. We want to start the first free autism and down syndrome school. It’s first of its kind and we are going to start it by September, 2020”.
Some of the beneficiaries of the international scholarship scheme commended the General Overseer of OPM for the gesture.
Our correspondent reports that the beneficiaries of the second batch of international scholarship include six masters students and 69 undergraduates students.
The students will travel to Abuja on Saturday, 11 July 2020 for Visa interviews.
