Health workers make up 16 percent of covid-19 cases in Edo

Godwin Obaseki, the Edo State Governor has commended health workers in the State for their commitment and sacrifices in the fight against the #coronaviruspandemic.

Obaseki in a broadcast urged all Edo citizens to join the government in expressing gratitude and appreciation to the state’s healthcare workers who have been leading our fight against #COVID-19.

According to him: “These gallant men and women continue to sacrifice almost everything; their health, friends and families, livelihoods and resources, just to make sure that we are safe.

“We thank them for their sacrifices and want them to know that we are extremely grateful and we are very proud of their commitment and efforts.

“Health workers should not be discouraged as they make up 16% of our #COVID-19 cases. I know that this may dampen their morale and demotivate them.

“I want them to rest assured that my government will not relent in prioritizing their welfare and continue to ensure that they have adequate training, access to the right equipment and facilities and proper compensation.

“The resilience of our state’s healthcare system is being tested by #COVID-19, but we shall overcome with the dedication of these healthcare workers.

“We encourage our people to continue to practice social and physical distancing, wear face masks at all times, especially when they are visiting health facilities and wash their hands frequently.

“These will reduce the spread and the impact of the virus especially on our health workers and ensure our human resources are not over-stretched”.
