Rivers: Police arrest OSPAC personnel for rape, kidnapping

The Rivers State Police command has arrested personnel of a vigilante group popularly known as ‘Diobu OSPAC’ Mile 3 diobu, Port Harcourt for rape and kidnapping.

It was gathered that, following complaints made by Miss Precious, a 21 year old lady and two of her brothers, Jesse and David to Nkpolu Divisional Police headquarters on their alleged abduction from their house at Mile 3 Diobu on 11th April, 2020 by members of the vigilante group and subsequent detention at the office of the security personnel ,the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the station invited the leaders of the vigilante group and where they were detained.

Narrating their ordeal in the hands of the vigilante members, Miss Precious who spoke for herself and her two brothers disclosed that on that fateful day at about 8:00PM, the vigilante members led by one Godstime Ihunwo purportedly on the orders of her father invaded their house and took them away.

Miss Precious stated that upon arrival at the office of the vigilante group, she was stripped naked and placed in a separate room from her brothers. She said the vigilante members subjected her to severe torture and also inserted their fingers in her private part, with claims that they want to ascertain she was still a virgin.

She revealed that the security personnel also took video of her nakedness.

The 21 year old lady hinted that the vigilante members after beating them thoroughly, shaved her hair and that of her brothers before they were released the next day Sunday 12,2020.

She explained that she was admitted to a hospital for four days after the vigilante group released her and her brothers from detention.

She further revealed that the vigilante personnel reportedly told her brothers that it is their father who reported them to the group that they stole his money and are also disrespectful to him.

In the meantime, Civil Rights Council, a Human Rights organization that is handling the matter, condemned the alleged rape of Miss precious, kidnap of she and her brothers by the security personnel.

The Secretary of Civil Rights Council, Rivers State, Miss Kelechi Uzoma described the alleged rape of Precious and torture of help brothers and their subsequent detention as cruel, barbaric, evil and unacceptable.

She called on the Police to follow due diligence in the process of investigation and ensure all the persons involved are made to face Justice to serve as deterrent to others.

Miss Uzoma added that the Council will follow the case to its logical conclusion.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident and added that Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Mukan has ordered transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation Department.
