Police transfer commander of unit that tortured Chima Ikwunado to death

The Commander of Eagle Crack Unit at the centre of the murder of a mechanic in Port Harcourt, Chima Ikwunado has been transferred.

The Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mustapha Dandaura, during a meeting with family of the late mechanic, said Superintendent of Police(SP) Benson Adetuyi was redeployed to ensure transparency in the investigation of death of Ikwunado who died while being tortured by personnel of the unit.

Five officers have been arrested over the death of the mechanic, including a female officer who grabbed his manhood while he was being tortured.

The CP assured the family of late Ikwunado that the Police will not shield anybody found culpable.

He also revealed that they will take the family of late Chima to see his corpse on Monday 10 February 2020 and also conduct another autopsy to ascertain the true cause of his death.
