NSF: Zonal Elimination to commence on Jan 20th in Edo

The Zonal Elimination for Team Sports for the 20th National Sports Festival is scheduled to hold from 20th January to 24th January in Edo State.

The Team Sports include Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cricket, Handball, Hockey, Rugby and Volleyball.

The team are expected to arrive at Edo State on Monday 20th January while the competition will commence on Tuesday 21st January.

In a statement signed by the Zonal Coordinator, Essiet U.S said that States shall be responsible for the transportation, accommodation, feeding, allowances of their athletes and officials during the competition.

The statement added that states shall pay the sum of three hundred thousand naira (N300,000) as registration fee for the participation in the zonal eliminations.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Ministry of Sports has confirmed that the state athletes will participate in the zonal eliminations.

An official who spoke on anonymity, however, failed to confirm the number of sports the State athletes will compete for.

The 20th National Sports Festival is scheduled to hold in Edo State from 20th March to first April 2020.
