Rivers United can now challenge for NPFL title- Stanley Eguma

Rivers United Technical Manager, Stanley Eguma says his side is now comfortable to challenge for the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL title.

Stanley Eguma while speaking to newsmen after their two nil victory against MFM FC at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium said his team are now confident to go for the NPFL title following strings of good results in their last three games.

The ‘Pride of Rivers’ had defeated Sunshine Stars, Adamawa United and MFM FC in their last three games, claiming nine maximum points in the process.

The victories have catapulted the team to the third position on the NPFL table with 21 points from 12 games.

Stanley Eguma while commending his team for an outstanding display against MFM FC said he was pleased with the confidence level of the players.

He said the wins have motivated the boys to believe in themselves.

The Rivers born tactician noted that Rivers United is now poised to challenge league leaders Plateau United for the title.

“It was a very disciplined performance. We controlled the game from start to finish and could have scored more goals.

“I am happy with the win and also pleased that we are moving up the log,” he said.

Rivers United will welcome Nasarawa United on match-13 of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.

Plateau United tops the NPFL table with 24 points after 12 games, three points better than Rivers United, while Lobi Stars of Makurdi is second with 21 points after 12 matches.
