It is no longer news that during any festive season at all, there is always a hike in almost all products and services. This hike in the prices of goods and services is more prevalent during the Christmas period.
Although there seems to be no hike in the price of fuel this period, most transportation companies in Nigeria are not relenting in hiking the price of their fares.
Before you go spending all your money on shopping, you should be aware of the current prices of fares by some of the transportation companies around Nigeria. That is if you intend travelling at all.
If you ever listened to your economist teacher in secondary school, you surely will Nigeria are by nature adventurous. The South-Eastern part especially. So, because many people are in demand for transportation services at the same time and there isn’t an increase in the supply of these services, hence the hike in prices.
Understand the reason for the fare hike. There are lots of people from different parts of the country travelling to the same destination at the same time.
This article reviews the prices of three of the most popular transportation companies that run across Nigeria.
God Is Good Motors
Good is Good Motors is known for its tech-inclined services around Nigeria. With their neat and air-conditioned buses and little luggage carrying policy, some people have argued that God Is Good motors is for the elites who want to have a feel of the Nigerian roads.

Before the festive period, a fare from Port Harcourt to Lagos was seven thousand five hundred naira (7,500). Right now, Lagos to Port Harcourt is double the price. From three different terminals in Lagos Mazamaza, Jibowu and Yaba their fares are 14,660, 15,570 and 14,310 respectively.
For those that will be coming from Abuja, from Abuja to Port Harcourt used to be at 7,370. Right now you have to have more than double the amount before you can think of travelling to Port Harcourt. From three of their terminals, which include; Utako, Kubwa and Mararaba. The fares skyrocketed to 17,900 for Utako, 8,950 for Kubwa and 9,850 from Mararaba.
A fare from Abuja to Owerri cost 15,390, 7,750 and 9,550 from their Utako, Kubwa and Mararaba terminals respectively.
For Enugu traveller, be ready to pay 13, 590 if boarding at their Utako.
ABC Transport
ABC used to be all travellers’ delight back in the days. It still is though. This company is known for its adequate-speed-limit-observing drivers. Their drivers are one of the most courteous drivers you will ever meet.
They are also known for always adding refreshment to their services. They never disappoint on that.
Before the hassle of the festive season, fares from Abuja to Port Harcourt were relatively normal. But right now, just like every other transport company, the prices of fares have been significantly increased.
Bus fares from Abuja to Port Harcourt was at 7,000 or thereabout. Right now, it sells for 13,000, 11,000 and 14,000 from their different Abuja terminals.
Then from Lagos to Port Harcourt, bus fares ranges from N12,000 to N13,000.
Bus fare from Abuja to Owerri goes for 15,500 from Utako, 14,900 from Mararaba.
Bus fares from Lagos to Enugu are between 8,500 from their Ijebu Ode terminal and 10,500 from their Amowu terminal.
Travelling this year isn’t for the faint-hearted in money spending.
Peace Mass Transit
Popular for its affordability and the notoriety of most of their drivers. Their bus fares are the most affordable even in this festive period.
Their bus fares are as follows; from Lagos to Port Harcourt, bus fare cost about 12,250. Abuja to Port Harcourt is about 13,050 and 11,250 from Utako and Bwari terminals respectively.
Their Abuja to Owerri bus fares are 10,250 and 11,550 from their Bwari and Utako terminals. Then if you’re travelling from Lagos to Owerri, your fare is between 11.750 to 12,450 from their various terminals.
