Substitute Chile Azu curled a free-kick home in the 85th minute to give Go Round FC a 1-0 win over Gateway United in his first game for the club since he returned to the team.

Azu who has played most of his football career with Go Round FC left to join Lobi Stars but returned after one season.

He was tormentor in chief for his club since he came on in the 56th minute for Kessiena Essi as his long throws were always causing concern to the visitors.

Twice in quick succession did his long throw cause a goalmouth melee that the Go Round FC players could not convert, until that freekick in the 84th minute which Azu stepped up to score.

Before the last twenty-five minutes of the game, it was really scrappy all through the first half and the first part of the second half.

The closest any of the sides got close to scoring in the first half was Maduka Junior, whose header off a corner kick was scrambled out by Gateway Goalkeeper, Araromi Ibukun for a corner kick.

After the game, coach of Gateway United FC, Akeem Busari did not sound bothered by the end result.

“It was a very tough game and we saw talents from both sides. It was a good game for both sides. I came here to pick a point because after a home game you want to pick a point away,” Busari said.

Go Round FC coach, Abiye Tamunoiyalla was full of praises to God for the win.

“I want to say a very big thank you to almighty god. It wasn’t easy but with God, on our side, we were able to get three points. I also give kudos to my team as well. Gradually they are coming up and building up. So, kudos to them for giving me the maximum points today.”
