Mpigi sponsors bill for establishment of University of Environmental Technology, Tai

A bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Environmental Technology Saakperwa, Tai Ogoni, Rivers State has been read for the first time on the floor of the Nigerian Senate.

The bill (Est, etc) Bill, 2019 (SB. 200) was sponsored by Senator Barinada Mpigi, the senator representing Rivers South-East senatorial district in the national assembly.

Mpigi said the University, when established, will help to restore the devasted environment of the Ogoni land and create jobs.

Recall that in 2017, the immediate past senator representing Rivers South-East, Magnus Abe, sponsored the bill in the Senate.

Abe said creating such an institution by the Federal Government, will among other benefits provide jobs for the youths of the area.
