EX-militants issue 7-day ultimatum to Dokubo over unpaid allowances

Some Ex- militants in Rivers State have given the special assistant to President Buhari on Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Charles Dokubo, seven days ultimatum to pay them their three months training allowance.

The Niger Delta Agitators protested to the Presidential Amnesty Office in Port Harcourt, over the non-payment of their training allowance, while demanding for two hundred and seventy (270,000) naira payment for each delegate in the ongoing Power Transformer Repair Training, being owed them.

The protesters numbering about two hundred trainees lamented that the daily allowance of three thousand naira which is supposed to be for their feeding has not been giving to them for the past three months.

They further expressed sadness that the failure of Amnesty office to pay their daily allowance has made them go through lots of difficulties in learning the skill they are being sent for, as they can not afford transport fare to attend lectures every day, adding that it is also difficult to learn while hungry.

They, however, called on President Buhari, the Amnesty Boss Charles Dokubo to address the issue within seven days.

The leader of the protesters, Newyear Oyinkuro, while speaking to our correspondent, threatened that if the matter is not resolved within a week, they will be forced to carry out a protest at the Presidential Amnesty Head Office in Abuja, stressing that the matter has lingered for so long.

The Port Harcourt Liaison officer of the Presidential Amnesty, Fenibo Jack, confirmed the payment of stipends to some of the trainees months ago.

The office also requested for delegation of five people from the trainees that will travel to the office of the Presidential Amnesty in Abuja for a proper briefing on the latest development.
