Police ban proposed protest by Ogoni Youths over insecurity in Ogoniland

The police command in Rivers State has banned the proposed protest by Ogoni Youths to the government house.

The Ogoni Youth Federation had said it would organize a peaceful match to the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt, to register its displeasure over the killings ravaging the Ogoni Communities.

A statement by Comrade-Legborsi Sunday Yamaabana which was made available to theportcitynews said the youth body is horrified by the frequent killing and dynamiting of houses going on in Ogoniland.

Yamaabana said Thursday 29th August 2019 had been slated for the match which according to him, will start by 7:00 am prompt in front of the government house.

According to the youth body: “Everyday Ogoni people are trapped and encircled by forces of anarchy, Ogoni people groan in pain and bleed under the terror of marauders.

“Having several times commented on those as mentioned above without any effective modality in place to put an end to the senseless insurgency ravaging Ogoni by security agencies and the Rivers State Government whose primary responsibility is to protect life and properties, the Ogoni Youth Federation is calling on all affected communities in Ogoniland, well-meaning Ogoni youths, Civil Society Organizations and lovers of humanity to come out en mass for a SAVE OUR SOUL walk to the Rivers State Government.
