Be role models in fight against corruption – EFCC tells Corps members

Members of the National Youth Service Corps in Rivers State have been charged to strive to be role models in the fight against corruption.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC gave the charge on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Nowa-Gbam, Rivers State while delivering a lecture on the Role of Youth in Curbing Corruption.

Akpos Ekisowei, a staff in the Public Affairs Directorate, Port Harcourt’s Zonal office of EFCC, stated that enduring success against corruption could only make manifest if youths served as role models and change agents.

“The EFCC realises that enduring success in the fight against economic crimes, including corruption, can only be achieved when all stakeholders embrace this important fight. One critical group of stakeholders is the youths”.

The commission charged the Corps members to exemplify integrity and professionalism in their various places of primary assignments and shun every form of economic and financial crimes.

“We encourage you to serve as role models by shunning all acts of economic and financial crimes. There is no shortcut to fame and wealth. We are calling on youths to embrace hard work and stay away from crime”.

The commission further encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the Whistle Blowing policy of the government as a means of helping in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

EFCC also tasked them to carry the anti-corruption message to all ends of Rivers State and mobilise everyone in the State to be foot soldiers in fighting the menace of corrupt practices.
