The Student Union Government of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic in Bori has expressed worries over the incessant rape and robbery attacks on students living outside the school premises.

Bayonne Simeon, the speaker of the union, also described as saddening, the cold response of security agencies around the tertiary institution to protect students living in Off-campus.

The speaker said no fewer than 20 female students had been raped in the last one month, lamenting that the robbery has become a daily event.

Some of the victims also told our correspondent that the gunmen only target students living off-campus.

They said that despite their repeated reports at Bori police station, nothing has been done to checkmate the growing trend.

Bayonne Simeon and Manson Dumlebabari, the Chief Judge of Student Union Government of KenPoly Bori in Khana LGA also expressed disappointment over the inability of security agencies to protect students living in Off-campus lodges in Bori.

They called on the Civil Rights Council to draw the attention of the Police to their suffering due to the constant robbery and rape of female students by shooters targeting only student accommodation.

Meanwhile, the Police in Bori has said the division has not received any complaints from the students’ body.

The command also denied receiving any robbery reports from students of the school.

The police public relation officer of Rivers state command, Nnamdi Omoni, told our correspondent that the DPO of Bori Police station said no such report of rape and robbery was reported at the station.

He, however, said the command would put machinery in place to curb the menace.
