The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED, has decried the blackout experienced in parts of Cross River And Rivers States and caused by transmission constraints outside its control.

Inside Port Harcourt, residents of the entire Trans Amadi including Abuloma, Gulf Estate, Odili Road and Trans Amadi Garden Estate are currently experiencing a power outage which started on Tuesday.

The forced outage, according to PHED, is as a result of line faults affecting both Abuloma and Trans Amadi 33KV feeders.

Meanwhile, the entire Calabar, the Cross River state capital is currently in darkness, as a result of a faulty breaker belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria, located inside the TCN transmission station in Ikot –Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.

On his part, PHED Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr John Onyi, who expressed his dissatisfaction over the incident, said that efforts were underway by Transmission Company of Nigeria to clear the fault.

Onyi regretted the outage affected its valued customers in the two states including members of the public and government parastatals.

He also stressed that its technical crew was making frantic effort to ensure that the faulty lines in Abuloma and Trans Amadi 33KV feeders are fixed despite the unfriendly weather.

PHED, therefore, appealed for the understanding of her customers within the affected states to exercise patience while waiting for the restoration of power supply.

The PHED spokesman also noted that power supply has been restored to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, which has been in darkness since Thursday due to a fault on TCN’s 132KV Owerri-Yenagoa line which serves customers in Bayelsa State.
