Falode commends Nyesom Wike for Rivers Angels’ welfare package

The Chairperson of the Nigeria Women’s Football League, Aisha Falode, has on behalf of the board applauded the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, for abiding by the tenets of the league board which ceaselessly preaches professionalism, good welfare package and prompt payment of salaries to all the club players playing in the Nigeria Women Premier League and Pro-League Division 2.

Falode was elated by the excellent welfare package given to Premier League club, Rivers Angels ahead of the new NWPL season which kicks off on July 17 across the country.

The NWFL Chairperson expressed her delight by the package put in place by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in a bid to ensure that players and officials are comfortable playing for the state-owned club.

Ahead of the 2018/2019 season, Governor Wike has provided Rivers Angels, who are multiple League champions, with a brand new air-conditioned 32-seater bus, aimed to aid the smooth trips of the team when they go for away matches across the country playing in the Nigeria Women Premier League.

The governor has also secured a befitting hostel accommodation for the team in a choice area of Port Harcourt, towards achieving a better life for the club players.

“The governor ensured the installation of a brand new standby power generating set at the hostel to checkmate power outage.”

The NWFL Aisha Falode noted that, when the club’s Team Manager, Maltida Otuene, confirmed that the monthly salaries of players and officials of Rivers Angels are paid as at when due, with no incident of arrears, she was very happy to hear that, the Rivers state governor, is abiding by the tenets of the NWFL board which focuses on good welfare package, prompt payment of salaries and provision of decent accommodation.

“We commend the Rivers state governor for helping in the positive development of women’s football in Nigeria.”

She noted that: “By doing all these great things for Rivers Angels, Governor Nyesom Wike is indirectly helping the NWFL to achieve full professionalism in the NWPL.”

Falode, implored other state governors whose states have women’s football clubs, and other private club owners, to emulate the kind gestures of the Rivers State governor, to make life better for the players.
