Ahead of the round of 16 clash between Nigeria and Cameroon in Egypt, some members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN, Rivers State Chapter have called on the Super Eagles to up their game against the defending champions in Alexandria.

Former Secretary of Sports Writers Association Rivers State chapter Olalekan Ige while assessing Super Eagles performance at the on-going tournament in Egypt tasked the team to be more ruthless in the front of goal.

Olalekan Ige in a chat with our correspondent said that the Super Eagles needs to get Nigerians fans back with a victory against Cameroon.

He stated that the tactics adopted by the technical crew of the Super Eagles are not convincing enough to inspire confidence in the hearts of Nigerians.

Olalekan Ige also frowned at the poor quality of play at the on-going AFCON.

He stated that the on-going AFCON has been under-par to compare to the previous editions.

He also, scored the organizing committee of the 2019 AFCON low in terms of publicity of the tournament which contributed to the low turnout of fans during matches at the competition.

Another sports writer JIM OPIKI has advised the Super Eagles to repay the goodwill of Nigerians by stepping up their game against Cameroon.

He said that the team has received enough motivation and do not have any excuse not to perform.

JIM OPIKI who is also contesting for the chairmanship position of SWAN in Rivers State noted that the destiny of the players is in their hands.

He stated that scouts are monitoring the performance of the players at the tournament and assured them that anyone that performs very well will get a good contract with club sides in Europe.
