The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested 9 suspects in connection with the killing of two Mobile Policemen at Ojoto Street, Diobu Port Harcourt on Monday.

This comes less than 24 hours after the tragic killing of the two officers who were escorting a van carrying cash for a brewery shop.

Their arrest was made barely 12 hours after the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman A.Belel, issued a marching order to all the Commanders of the Tactical Units to arrest with immediate effect the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Nnamdi Omoni, the public relations officer of the command told our correspondent, Lorine Emenike, on Tuesday that the arrested suspects are currently being interrogated and will be made to bear the full weight of the law, if found complicit.

He did not, however, state if the alleged arrested suspects were those picked up during a raid on brothels in Diobu on Monday night.

According to Omoni, “The CP wishes to appeal to the residents of the State to remain calm; as there is no cause for alarm”

He assured residents that the Command will not spare any effort in unveiling the identities of the assailants.

He further appealed to the public to support the Police with credible information that can burst not “just this gang but other criminal gangs terrorizing the State and consequently make the State liveable and peaceful for all”
