Man appears in court for raping, killing 8-year-old in Rivers State

Tombari Eedey Taol, the suspect accused of sexual abuse and murder of the 8 years old Eedeebari Littia Gonis, has pleaded not guilty in a high court sitting in Port Harcourt.

The Defendant, Tombari Taol, who is facing a 4-count charge of sexual abuse, exploitation of a child, unlawful sexual intercourse with a child and murder of late Eedeebari Gonis at Bori, in Khana local government area, made his appearance before Justice Margaret Opara to take his plea.

The state prosecuting counsel, Aya Orugbani, served the defendant his proof of evidence in court, which he pleaded not guilty.

The presiding judge, Justice Margaret Opara, adjourned the case to 29th and 30th July for hearing.

Speaking to our reporter Tina Stephen, Counsel to the defendant Favour Iroegbulem, said the court will determine if his client is guilty or not.

Also speaking, Counsel to the applicant, Chairperson of FIDA, Antonia Osademe, said that FIDA will stand for the prosecution till Justice is served on the matter.
