What’s the shame in admitting the obvious?
Why are we all pretending? What’s this conspiracy of silence about? Why the denial in the face of the apparent?
Mr. Buhari is not shy about it: he has made the government all about the Fulani and Islam. The government is about the North and Islam, all institutions at the federal level are about the North and Islam, the security forces are about the North and Islam, the national Assembly is about the North and Islam and even the Under 20 Football Team is about the North.
Public officials now openly bear the Islamic bag for swearing-in now. The Organization of Islamic Countries is more active in Nigeria; Islamic lending and finance are all over the place with Saudi Arabia and Qatar providing the bulk of the funds for Sukkuk. Abuja is more of a Sharia Capital now than a secular city. The Nigerian Police is working with Hisbah!
For all intents and purposes, this president has ALREADY divided this country. Nigeria is no longer functioning as a, secular country but as a Sharia dominated one. The president is not exactly pretending to be the President of Nigeria but the President of Northern Nigeria and the Conqueror of the Southern Vassal Regions! His total disdain for the South is official. So why are we pretending like we don’t know?
The North has a president; Nigeria does not have one. Because it’s no longer a country.
Mr. Buhari has effectively divided Nigeria. The North knows this and has accepted it; the South is still painfully delusional. All the South needs to do is to announce a government too. And it would be game-up.
Why are we afraid to admit the obvious?
