RSG swears-in new magistrates

The Chief Judge of Rivers State Justice Iyayi Laminkara has charged the newly appointed 11 magistrates to be dedicated and professional in the discharge their duties.

The Chief Judge of Rivers State Justice Iyayi Laminkara stated this while swearing-in the newly appointed magistrates in Port Harcourt.

She urged them to be impartial in judgment and protect the rights of the people and society.

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Iyayi Laminkara also said the appointment of new magistrates have increased the numerical strength of the Magistrates from 53 to 64.

”As Magistrates you have to apply yourself diligently to your duties, be disciplined, focus, fearless and impartial in the performance of your duties as magistrates. Avoid unnecessary adjournments and lateness to work. Discharge your duties with competence, fairness and integrity and with a great sense of responsibility”.

”You should abhor and shun corruption and show an example at all times. In all, you must adhere strictly to the judicial ethics and rule of conduct for judicial officers which applied to judicial magistrates and judges in Nigeria” she said.

She also commended Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike for giving approval to the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission for the appointment of eleven new magistrates.

The Chief Judge of Rivers State said the judiciary will ever remain grateful to Governor Nyesom Wike for all his support to the judiciary in the state.

Iyaye Laminkara appealed to other magistrates to assist the newly sworn-in ones to be effective in the discharge of the duties.

The eleven appointees include: Comfort Adangor, Lessor Konya, Amanda Chinwe Nsirim, Chidubem Chinelo Odili, Beauty Emmanuel Okere, Cecilia Ledum Mitee, Wibani Omonigo, Linda Sotonye Harry, Others are Philips Dike Udenna, Nnenda Anugbuom , Nneka Obuzor.

Correspondent reports that the occasion was attended by the former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili and his Wife, Justice Mary Odili among others.
