Resident Electoral Commissioner INEC Rivers state, Obo Effanga, has said his duty before and during the Rivers poll was not for any political relationship with any aspirant, but for the conduct of a proper electoral process in the state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner who disclosed this during an interactive meeting with journalists at the INEC Headquarters Portharcourt, said all political parties in the state who were fully prepared, were carried along in the 2019 electoral process.
According to him, he had no interest on who wins the gubernatorial poll, stressing that his position as REC of the state is not political, but a position meant to conduct the election using all the laid down rules governing the electoral process.
He urged journalist to be focused and accurate in their reportage as information is the key, adding that reports from the media can affect the lives of the people negatively or positively thereby causing more harm than good.
He further said that voters registration will soon begin while urging the public to get themselves registered in order to get their PVC.
