Gunmen kill Army captain in Port Harcourt

Unidentified gunmen, on Tuesday, shot and killed a captain of the Nigerian Army serving at the 6 division, Port Harcourt.

Captain Junaid Mohammed Yelwa was ambushed and killed on Tuesday evening by yet to be identified gunmen said to be militants.

The reason for his killing was not immediately clear but the police said they are working hard to unravel the mystery behind the death of the army officer.

Yelwa’s killing comes weeks after another captain was shot while on duty during the election.

His body was recovered by the military for burial according to Islamic rites.

He left behind a wife and two children.

However, the military authorities declined comments on the matter when contacted by theportcitynews.
