Breaking! Coordinated Heavy shootings rock UNIPORT community

Brave Dickson

One of the host communities of the University of Port Harcourt known has been ravaged by sporadic shootings late Wednesday night.

A graduand of UNIPORT who told our correspondent on the condition of anonymity due to fear of being attacked said, “as I speak to you now, we are in distress. Hoodlums suspected to be cultists have invaded Choba community where we are. The sporadic gunshots have been on for hours now.

“The busy Choba market around Mr Biggs eatery has been deserted as everyone has scampered for safety.

“The situation is terrible. We need the quick intervention of security agencies.”

Though, as at the time of filing this report, no casualty has been recorded.

However, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni is yet to respond to text message sent to him by our Correspondent concerning the development.

Despite stern directives by President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nyesom Wike to security agencies to nip the insecurity in the state in the bud, the spate of violent crimes in the state were yet to be abated.

More worrisome is the resurgence of senseless killings occasioned by cultists which have claimed dozens of lives with many critically injured.

TPCN shall keep you updated as the situation in Chioba community unfolds.
