An unspecified number of persons have been killed in Luawii in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Earlier, local sources told theportcitynews that the gunmen barricaded Zaakpon and Luawii Roads while gunshots raged from 6 to 8 am on Saturday morning.
Sources say the attack on Luawii lasted for over 5 hours leading to the death of many persons.
An earlier attack in the community on March 9 led to the beheading of 3 men while a teenage girl was also shot dead in her home.
The reason for the March 9 attack was not immediately clear as the Rivers State Police Command failed to respond to enquiries.
Subsequent requests by the PRO of the command, Nnamdi Omoni, for comments on the latest attack were not responded to at press time.
