A Port Harcourt-based pastor, Kenneth Agubah, has warned Nigerian leaders of an impending calamity that would shake the foundations of the country if they do not repent and learn to fear God.

In a chat with TPCN shortly after a gospel ministers leadership seminar in Port Harcourt today, Pastor Kenneth Agubah said that God was not happy with the way Nigerian leaders are treating the masses of the country, especially the poor, who he lamented were being impoverished on daily basis due to high level of corruption, bad governance and battered economy.

He said: “The leaders of this country have totally veered off the track set by God for the people to be blessed. Rather than follow that track of good leadership, our leaders have decided to follow their own track of corruption just to enrich themselves. They don’t care about the people; they only care about themselves and their relatives while the masses are suffering.

“Imagine a situation where one person is controlling billions, hiding millions of dollars in secret houses all over the country whereas the poor masses are suffering. This is a nation which God has blessed so much with abundant mineral resources, human intelligence, good land that produces all kinds of fruits and even good weather. If you look very well, you can see that Nigeria is supposed to be the modern Promised Land but today she is like a cursed land, being described as the poverty capital of the world. What an anathema! God is not happy with our leaders and because he has given them enough time to change, he is going to do something terrible that will shock them. It is a calamity that will shake the foundations of this country. The reason is to prove to our leaders that God is still the owner of the country and that he loves the poor. At the end, those leaders that will survive it will now know that there is God in this country.”

On whether the calamity will have anything to do with the forthcoming general elections, the fire-breeding clergyman answered in the negative, explaining that the elections would come and go but the calamity would come if Nigerian leaders do not change.

“It’s not about the elections. It’s about the attitude of our leaders to the people, starting from our various communities. Those who represent us in various positions up to the highest office in the land have all offended God and would be made to face the divine consequences. God has heard the voices of the poor and is coming to avenge for them. The earlier our leaders change, the better,” he warned.
