A group of entertainers in Port Harcourt assembled on Tuesday, the 22nd of January, 2019 in what could be described as a town hall meeting to dialogue on very vital issues besetting the industry.

The meeting which took place at the popular Ediz Wine Bar somewhere in the Government Residential Area of state had music artists, artist managers, producers, DJs and even bloggers in attendance.

In this said time of conversation, a lot of pressing challenges plaguing the industry was discussed.

Top on the list was the issue of funding and the ability to attract investors in the industry. This is followed by artiste brand management, brand identity and reputation, as well as appeal strategies of talents to their target audience within and beyond the city alongside other matters, arising.

Reactions from the entertainers who attended after some keynote speeches were delivered highlighted other issues such as the potentiality for the industry to blossom if given proper grassroots support such as continued rotational airplay by media organizations and partnership between the artists and every form of media whose platforms and roles are vital to the success of the industry.

Keynote addresses delivered at the meet up worthy of note are speeches from Patterson (Cool FM Port Harcourt Music Content Curator), Gift Azunwena (Cadilly Entertainment Rep), Timeyin (Rap Artist), Young Stunna (Rap Artist), Soul Plus (Singer), DJ Skylo and Lord Jenny.

These issues raised at this meet up are no new challenges in the entertainment scene in Port Harcourt and for someone who has observed the industry for over a decade now, this is also not the first time this type of event or dialogue is happening.

The question is: hope this meet up is a new movement to revolutionize the industry and harness fully the potentials embedded in the Port Harcourt entertainment industry?
