Rivers State Referees Association gets new executives

The newly elected executives of Rivers State Football Referees Association say they will continue to promote unity among football stakeholders in the state.

The State Chairman of the Association, Joseph Gighi, stated this after his re-election in Port Harcourt.

Joseph Gighi said he will continue to introduce new ideas into the association.

He tasked referees to continue to promote fair play in the beautiful leather game.

The newly elected Deputy Chairman of Rivers State Football Referees Association and former FIFA Referee, Solomon Wokoma, said he will use his position to impact on younger referees during his tenure.

He stated that officiating made him popular and he wants to give back to the profession that brought him much fame and fortune.

Wokoma said that the younger referees need mentors and promised to do his best to provide that guidance to young and inspiring referees in River state.

In his comment, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Tamuno Koko, commended the delegates for conducting themselves during the delegates congress.

He said that the peaceful disposition of the delegates and contestants during the election made it possible for the electoral committee to organize free, fair and a credible election for the Rivers State Football Referees Association.

Other elected officers include Konye Okirie as the first vice chairman, Nwogwuimo Chinwuba will serve as the secretary, Gladdy Ekechukwu as Welfare Secretary while Ejinwofor Chukwudi will serve as the Publicity Secretary of the Association.

The new executive will serve for a term of four years.
