Ex-Militants promise to stop APC in Niger Delta

Key allies of President Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Niger Delta, the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators (NCNDE-A), have vowed to work against the party and President’s political interest in the region over what they described as serial disappointment experienced by youths in the Niger Delta.

The group, under the leadership of leadership of Eshanekpe Israel, said that President Buhari is a huge disappointment to the group and the entire Niger Delta region. The group said it cooperated with Buhari’s administration in the fight to stop the resurgence of militancy in the region.

According to the erstwhile pro-Buhari group, the President has shown disdain for the youths and ex-militants under the aegis of NCNDE-A, noting that it worked to install President Buhari with promises by him to better the lots of members of the group and develop the Delta.

According the group, rather than reward hard work and loyalty shown to him by members and leaders of the NCNDE-A, Buhari engaged in selective patronage along tribal lines.

The coalition, he stated, was self-funding and it ran all its activities through self-sponsorship which brought the leader’s finances to its knees with the hope that the President was willing to fulfill his pledge to the group, but he said the president reneged on his promises to work with the group.
