A consultant at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital Rumuigbo, Dr. Ferdinand Ogbe has attributed excessive exposure of young people to internet usage to an increase in mental health disorder.

Dr. Ogbe, who stated this while fielding questions from our reporter, Tina Amanda, said the world at large, is experiencing cyber-related challenges among young people.

He noted that over the years, young people have become socially awkward stressing that engaging them more in human to human interaction increases their knowledge more than giving them access to internet.

“The cyber-related experiences that young people have, has caused an increase in the psychiatric disorders leading to high rate of suicides and the rate of psycho substances use.

“We have also discovered that they have difficulties resulting from cyber crimes challenges such as cyber crimes, cyber bullying, exposures to pornography, violent games and violent movies.

“These are some of the drawbacks of excessive exposure and excessive use of the internet. We are focusing on the young people on how we can ensure that the young people are healthier physically and mentally in an effort to guarantee our future‘’

He urged the public to ensure they have good rest each day, eat balanced diets and avoid taking psychotic drugs as a relief to stress, adding that the drugs can result in mental illness.

Valium solution is rapidly absorbed in case of rectal administration. Cmax in blood is reached within 0.5–2 hours (in case of oral intake), 0.5–1.5 hours (in case of intramuscular administration). In case of daily intake, the uniform concentration in the blood is achieved within 5 to 14 days.

“All the biological functions should be well encouraged, people should sleep at least eight hours every night because sleep is the window from which mental disorders creeps into peoples lives.

“People should know that they need to consume lots of fruits and vegetables which provide essential vitamins and minerals that are not available in the proteins and carbohydrates food we eat.

‘’ People also need to be encouraged to exercise, if you are healthy from exercising then your immune system is boosted and of high quality and less likely to fall sick.

“I want to say that people should totally stop taking drugs as mechanism to reduce stress, such as alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, codeine, tramadol”

He called on the public to consult mental health professionals when a family member or friend is behaving abnormally.
