Heads of waterfront in Port Harcourt popularly called Ama and Polo chairmen have urged the newly crowned King of Port Harcourt waterfront, His Royal Majesty, Darrick Acheseomie not to dissolve their leadership as such attempt would breed crisis in the area.
The chairmen, who spoke to our correspondent, Brave Dickson, said the decision to dissolve their leadership will destabilize the ongoing peace in the area.
When contacted, King Acheseomie dismissed the claim, insisting that all Ama and Polo chairmen stand dissolved, adding that the constitution that brought their leadership into existence has been abolished.
The King of Port Harcourt waterfront told our correspondent that Polo chairmen have been selling waterfront lands and eating the money alone.
“In our defunct constitution, the concurrent list states that lands sold in Port Harcourt waterfront are to be shared among Polo, Ama and Aborigine leaderships but only polo chairmen keep selling the lands and eating the money alone.
“During their election, they will use cult boys to secure victory and still keep these cult boys around them whom they use in intimidating those who dared to question their misrule.
“After I was crowned as King of Port Harcourt waterfront, we all came together and agreed that we will return the leadership of Port Harcourt waterfront to Okrika traditional practice which everybody accepted. That was why we dissolved all Polo and Ama as well as Aborigine leaderships.”
King Acheseomie also maintained that only community development committee nominated by chiefs within 60 years and above will exist.
He added that all CDCs will be based on appointment and answerable to his kingship.
