PDP Phalga members await results outside Government House

Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party and security agents have tarried all through Wednesday night at Government House car park earnestly waiting for Mr Michael Williams who is the Returning Officer of the PDP PHALGA Federal Constituency 2 primary to come and declare the results.

One of the contestants, Barr Chinyere Igwe told our correspondent that the Returning Officer insisted that he will not declare the results until he gets clearance from Government House.

“Accreditation and voting commenced peacefully. During vote counting, some thugs came in to disrupt the process because I was leading my opponents. The returning officer stopped the process and told us he has to take clearance from the state Government House before announcing the results. Since he entered inside Government House, he has not yet come out and that is why we are here. We will wait here until he comes out to announce the results, “Barr Igwe said.

Barr. Igwe maintained that he won the primary with 65 votes against his closest rival Hon. Blessing Nsiegbe whom he said got 32 votes.

On his part, agent to Barr. Igwe in the Primary, Maxwell Amadi accused Nsiegbe who is representing the constituency in the House of Preventives of sponsoring thugs to disrupt the election process.

Reliable report has it that the Diobu axis of Port Harcourt witnessed heavy gun shots by suspected political thugs during the PDP PHALGA Federal Constituency 2 primary.

A member of the PDP who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity said they are yet to hear from the governor, adding that all they want is for the results to be declared.
