Corpse Crisis: UPTH to conduct mass burial

Authorities in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital have said the hospital will conduct a mass burial for the over seven hundred abandoned corpses in the hospital’s mortuary.

The chief medical director of the hospital, Prof. Henry Ugboma said this while speaking to journalists on Monday.

He said there are over 700 unclaimed corpses at the UPTH mortuary.

”First of all, we have concluded all the announcements, written to all the relevant authorities concerning that.

“A lot of persons have come for their corpses. Because of the rains, we have not been able to conduct the mass burial.

“Once the rains stop and the grass dries up, we will, because they are many. I could say over 700 corpses”, Prof. Henry said.
