Youths decry poor state of secondary schools in Etche

Some aggrieved youths in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State have decried the poor state of most secondary schools in the area.

They lamented that most of the secondary Schools are dilapidated and not fit for learning.

Speaking to TPCN, a youth leader, Comrade Chinedu Nwankwo said the deplorable condition of the schools does not tell good of the Local Government Area as a whole.

According to him, it is bad for students to learn while sitting on the floor, adding that such does not give them a sense of belonging.

He added that such does not guarantee safety for the students as they might fall ill and disrupt their academic pursuit.

He further called on the governor of Rivers State to declare a state of emergency on secondary schools in the LGA and the state at large to ensure that the teaching and learning environment is safe and conducive.
