EFCC overreaching the court by its siege on Rivers State – Wike

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike says the state government will take every legal means at its disposal to challenge what he calls, acts of impunity against the state by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Governor Wike in a statement on Wednesday recounted that the EFCC had become a tool in the hands of the APC-led federal government and its actions against the state government have been politically motivated.

Governor Wike said the state government would diligently fight the EFCC within the ambits of the law.

Wike’s reaction was said to come from the fact that four top officials of the state government were declared wanted for alleged conspiracy and money laundering.

the Rivers state governor also declared that officials of his administration will appear before the commission for questioning only if the commission sets aside the 2007 appeal court injunction which bars the commission from looking into the finances of the state government.
