Due to the upgrading of schools in Rivers State, the Rivers State government had disclosed it’s intent to employ more teachers in the state.
The Rivers State commissioner of education, Hon. Tamunosisis Gogo Jaja disclosed this in an exclusive interview with theportcitynews reporter, Lorine Emenike in his office on Monday.
The commissioner said that based on the ongoing upgrading of schools in Rivers State and also based on the need to tackle the unemployment situation in the state, it became necessary for the State government to employ more teachers.
He noted that the government has been working round the clock to enrol ten thousand 10,000) teachers and four thousand (4,000) non-academic teachers(security men, cleaners, labourers, gardeners, admin clerks and all other needed non-academic staff) into the state’s education’s workforce.
According to him, intending applicants must have an education background (educationally based professions).
He emphasized that the fact that you have a first degree in mathematics does not qualify you to be employed as a mathematics teacher; you must have an addition of educationally based profession to be qualified to apply.
Continuing, Hon. Tamunosisi said that the chairmen of UBE, post-primary schools board, civil service commission, himself alongside the ICTs are currently meeting to harmonize things, and hopefully, the outcome of their meeting will determine the opening of the online portal for applicants later this week.
